courtroom Walk through the Bitterroot room

The Mission of the Ravalli County Museum is to acquire, preserve, and interpret the historical and cultural heritage of the Bitter Root Valley and its inhabitants. The Museum houses many critical and historical collections from our Native American heritage and establishment of Montana's first white settlement at Stevensville, Montana, in the heart of Ravalli County. The museum was once the Ravalli County Courthouse built in 1900 and designed by A.J. Gibson. It is significant symbolically and historically as it was the hub of social and political activity and has remained so since becoming the repository of the Bitter Root Valley's artifacts, collections, and oral histories.

Becoming a member or supporter of the Ravalli County Museum will help us in our preservation of the Bitter Root Valley's historical artifacts, collections and histories as well as support our ongoing efforts in education.
